The Detours were created in the depths of East Kilbride. The band has been around for a few years but the current, and most solid, line-up has been writing, rehearsing and gigging since the summer of 2006.
We are a heavy rock band with touches of metal and a modern twist. Each song has its own presence and personality mixed with energy and excitement.
Our influences include Iron Maiden, Metallica, Dream Theater, Foo Fighters and Velvet Revolver amongst others.
The Detours have played many gigs in and around the East Kilbride and Glasgow area but are now spreading their wings by embarking on a short series of tour dates releasing and promoting their latest track "Bull Rider". Their tour culminates in a prestigous gig at Camden Underworld London on 29th August and will also be playing King Tuts Glasgow later this year.
James Watt of The Evening Times (Glasgow) rated us as a four star band (out of 5) saying that "The Detours are one of the most exciting bands on the scene right now"
Jim Gellatly DJ on Xfm Scotland and Xfm Xposure said of Bull Rider "punk fuelled metal with one heck of a hook... After I heard it live I was gagging to play it on the radio..." And Jim did play us on radio airing "Bull Rider" on his show on Monday 25th August 2008.
DJ Jim Gellatly also said of The Detours, "If Metallica came to Scotland The Detours would be the support!"
