Hola! So im back home now after crashing at my friends house after coming back from the open auditons in Hoxton yesterday. My back is still sore and im croaky but yaay i have a gig tonight in Oxford Circus at the Phoenix pub if anyone wants to pop down ^_^. Yesterday was an experience and a half and something i wont really forget in a hurry hehe. I woke up at 520am, put on my Rosered skin, grabbed an apple and my guitar and left the house to pick up my friend T at 625am so we could drive down to the Courtyard Theatre, to take part in the open auditions at 9am. We thought we'd better leave early because 1) ive only been driving for 5 days, 2) we estimated that there would be a large amount of people dropping by to audition also. We were right! We arrived in good time after a somewhat crazy first time drive into London and managed to find a carpark eventually after my sat nav turned psycho on us haha. WE eventually found Pitfiled street at 730am after spotting a mass of people with guitars and so headed that way. The queue was already going around the corner and discovered some people had slept overnight eek! Kudos to them. So we joined the queue and watched as band after band emereged from around the corner every five minutes or so. We watched as their mouths would drop as they saw the size of the queue. Twas funny. Spirits were high in the queue and bands chatted and jammed took photos, drank, had snacks. Every half and hour or so we would shuffle down a couple of inches hehe. There was a drunk man mocking us for queuing and antagonising many people but after he was shifted away eventually spirits were high again. I started to write a poop song as i began needing to use the loo and when i finally couldnt hold on anymore i came out of the barrier and ran like the wind to the front and used the loo in the theatre. Ooo and we were given jelly beans from crew members and Alex Zane popped out a few times and chatted to some peeps. After about four hours my back was going and voice was fading and feet aching and at 6 hrs i was at the door Yaaaaaaaay. I got in and sang my song Divine, played a bit fast as there wasnt much time and said thank you and left. Wowsa hehe. Me and T headed straight for a noodle bar and ate and SAT down phew. When we finished we went back to see if people were still queueing and we saw maybe 20 people left to be seen so im guessing everyone managed to get an audition in the end! Well done to the Orange team twas a long day for everyone. Some bands came all the way from Wales to audition so its good to know they got a chance at least. Its not the best circumstances to be able to perform your best in after such a long wait but i think the producers would take that into consideration.
Just wanted to say a HUGE well done to everyone who queued for so long and a thanks to the friendly helpful crew.
