Acts / Mark Thompson

Mark is a singer/ songwriter originating from Walsall, West Midlands. Childhood was spent listening to artists such as The Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Doors, The Beatles, Chris De Burgh, John Denver and Simon and Garfunkel and consequently his teens was spent gigging with various bands. Then at 18 Mark tragically lost his father and his song writing began to take on a more personal feel. Inspired by his dad’s desire for him to pursue his passion for music, Mark moved to London. And so far his decision has paid off, landing gigs at some of the top venues; The Cobden Club, The Bedford, The BBC Club and The Half Moon. Also a regular on the Festival scene he has recently played at the Small World and East End Valley Festivals and has been invited to play at the Maker Festival in Cornwall next summer. Mark is currently busy in the studio recording his first album and collaborating with some of London's finest musicians he has met whilst gigging. Described as “a mix of emotion fuelled lyrics infused with empathetic undertones”, Mark’s voice has been likened to that of Nick Drake, Newton Faulkner and Scott Matthews.
