Acts / edge of your lies

Since forming in Ireland in 2003, the brainchild of singer, songwriter & guitarist Martin Connon, 'edge of your lies' have evolved into the the raw & edgy band it is today - a rare but satisfying combination of heavy riffage & harmony guitars harking back to old school metal, melodic yet raw vocals, and some meaty prog-influenced arrangements.

Originally called 'In Theory', and establishing themselves on the Irish gig circuit, with support slots for 'The Answer', 'Alkaline Trio' and 'Therapy?' under their belts, they soon moved to London, bringing with them a name change (for legal reasons) to 'Killin' Theory', and quickly establishing themselves in the big smoke too. Fortunes changed in June 2007, when Martin disbanded 'Killin' Theory' to pursue a solo acoustic career.

But after a 6 month hiatus, Martin & Drummer Phil Hamilton decided it was time again to get out there and pick up where they left off, recruiting London guitarist Stu Mason, with band friend Mike Hulbert helping out temporarily on bass, and a name change to 'edge of your lies'.

This new incarnation of the band debuted with their trademark incendiary show at the Carling Bar Academy on 11th March to a packed crowd, with more energy & bite than ever before, showing themselves & the crowd exactly why they're back, and the reason was simple... unfinished business.

Planet Sound Channel 4 teletext;

'They put recent crossover acts like Evanescence and Nickleback to shame.This is how heavy metal is supposed to sound.'

Metal Hammer, edge of your lies 9/10 demo of the month june review in pics section.

'NOW here's something interesting: power metal without Pro Tools. Instead of plumbing really great raw galloping power metal through miles of of sound-cleaning software and rendering it soulless and gutless, edge of your lies have stuck to garage production - and it sounds sexy as ****. Musically the band blend Funeral For A Friend-like vocal harmonies with Edguy galloping and Slayer-like guitar hammering. This could well be the future; combining the best modern aspects of contemporary, new heavy metal. edge of your lies scratch so many itches; great roaring, lush and heartfelt clean vocals, powerful instrumental middle sections and some prodigious axe svengal in the band, tearing solos off his guitar like a *******. And, the rare treat, the tunes are as catchy as fleas in Battersea Dog's Home, and as hummable as a Fall Out Boy ring tone. [9]'
